MAKEOVER GEM #4
It’s time to look at the next hidden gem that can revolutionize your life journey.
GEM #4 – Home and Family
Maybe you thought anything that made your life journey sparkle must definitely take you away from your home and family. To you, home means problems such as fighting over money, broken curfews and boundaries, threatened divorce, dangerous addictions, etc.
I’m sorry if you want to get away from your home and family, but you really can change that. This gem can add sparkle to your life journey right there in your home. Your family can give you the home team advantage – and improve your total life journey.
Gain family respect, and you improve your life journey as well as theirs. A family that can live without friction and quarreling enjoys life as no other can. They all are healthier, more loving to one another, and actually safer.
Have I made you curious?
The truth may sound like hype, but you CAN increase family health, love, and safety with character.
“But you don’t know my spouse!” you say. Maybe you complain, “I’ve got teenagers, and every time they open their mouths, they lie to me!”
What if you learned How to Read Your (Spouse’s) Body Language – or anyone else’s body language? What if you could read your child’s body language, or your teenager’s?
You may trust what family members say to you, but lips can disagree with bodies, and the body is usually more truthful. It’s called kinesics – a systematic study of what our lips say matched against what our bodies say. You’d be surprised by what you say without words as that blush of pink creeps into your face. You might be shocked at what your teen says silently when she moves her eyes a certain way. That shrug you always get from your younger son could tell you a lot.
Home and family relationships play a large part in making your life journey sparkle with joy or become worse and worse. You need this gem!
You may be one of the thousands of people who have no family. I know people who suffer with that reality. I recognize the enormous difficulty you and they face.
Increasing numbers of adults voluntarily cut themselves off from all family. Involuntary family breakdown happens with increasing frequency, also. These and other societal failures have caused many to journey onward through life in deep loneliness.
Loneliness has become such a problem worldwide that many people have not had a conversation with a friend or relative in more than a month. Great Britain became so concerned about loneliness that they appointed a “Minister for Loneliness” to help. A former U. S. surgeon general, Dr. Vivek Murthy, wrote that loneliness can be associated “with a greater risk of cardiovascular disease, dementia, depression and anxiety.”
The Home and Family category in Bettilou’s Blog gives you blog posts that can help you and your family strengthen your relationships so that none of you must travel through life alone, facing old age with no one to care.
